Etat Libre d'Orange: Secretions Magnifiques
Anyone who knows me, especially those that know me well, know I
have an insatiable curiosity. I'm also the girl that if told "you can't do
that" is going to dang well do it. So with all the hate and drama directed
at this juice, I HAD to test it.
As perspective, in previous work I've worked in what many would
consider pretty gruesome situations. I've photographed a child in the morgue,
killed by a car and covered with tire tracks. I've worked fatal accident scenes
with vehicles on fire and dead bodies strewn around the road. I've handled
accidents with decapitations and dismemberments. So, in my mind, my curiosity
was - Is this fragrance going to bring back any or all of the smells from these
situations?
On me, Secretions starts out with a very sharp metal twang. It
is in fact reminiscent of the metal morgue tables and the smell of car metal
being cut away. Then I get a sweaty musk. The kind of smell that some dogs have
after they've been outside running in the heat. That sopping wet, matted fur
smell. I get a somewhat salty yet creamy woodiness - like the smell of a stand
of trees just beside a shoreline.
I don't agree that this is a love or hate. For me, I neither
love nor hate it. I appreciate it for what it is. Is it a scent I care to smell
like - no. But I'm glad I checked the box and tried it.
"Like blood, sweat, sperm, saliva, Sécrétions Magnifiques
is as real as an olfactory coitus that sends one into raptures, to the pinnacle
of sensual pleasure, that extraordinary and unique moment when desire triumphs
over reason. Masculine tenseness frees a rush of adrenalin in a cascade of
high-pitched aldehydic notes. The sensation of freshness is gripping. Then the
fragrance reveals a metallic side, precise and as sharp as unappeased desire.
We are on a razor-edge… skin and sweat mingle, and tastes of musk and
sandalwood. The slightly salt marine effect stirs, arouses, and sets your mouth
watering. Tongues and sexes find one another, pleasure explodes and all goes
wild. Confusion reigns supreme. A subversive, disturbing perfume. It’s love or
hate at first sight. Sensuous jousting is rarely satisfied with
half-measures…In between Don Juan and the Woman who offers herself, arms are
laid down…who will be the first to surrender?"
