4160 Tuesdays - Eau My Soul Eau My Soul (“EMS” for the rest of my review) is an oriental woody fragrance created as a bespoke juice for the Facebook group Eau My Soul stemming from the creative idea of one of the group Admins and Founder Christi Long.  The members collaboratively voted on desired notes to use and Sarah McCartney, the perfumer, took it from there.  EMS opens with a bold note of cognac.  In this instance, the cognac doesn’t have an overly boozy quality but retains many of the complexities of a fine cognac: slightly herbal, slightly floral, slightly fruity, and slightly leather-like.  Like cognac the note is instantly warm and inviting.  There is also a cool incense note.  The incense plays well off of the cognac and acts to begin to elevate and add to the complexity of the fragrance.   There is a feel of a slightly honeyed, but not overly sweet, amber adding a richness and underscoring the warmth and coziness of the juice....

4160 Tuesdays - Silk, Lace & Chocolate Fragrantica describes this juice as an oriental and maybe it is.  I feel that all formal categories aside, this is best described simply as a gourmand.  I’ve had an opportunity to see other reviews of this fragrance and am reminded as to how fragrance is often a very personal and unique journey – one nose is not always the same as another. For me, Silk, Lace & Chocolate opens with an effervescent, almost carbonated but in a good way, note of light strawberry and chocolate.  The chocolate is not a candy bar chocolate to me but rather one like an old fashioned chocolate soda (more cocoa) with a lightly boozy edge.  At first I was baffled as to why some reviewers stated they felt this was a woodsy scent.  This scent does not wear like a woody scent at all on me.  I feel that what some may be smelling is the way the bergamot note blends in.  While bergamot is often used for its fruity sweet component,...

4160 Tuesdays The Dark Heart of Old Havana.  I reviewed this fragrance in another group after I made the decision to purchase a full bottle based on the sample I bought. (So I'm not going to do another full review here.) I do want to say that I adore this juice. It transports me to what I imagine Havana would be like for me. The air heady with the sweet scent of the sugarcane crop; the fruit in the market stands; the wafts of coffee in the early morning; and the men sitting smoking their cigars and playing dominoes while the drinks flow like water. "Based on Sarah McCartney's memories of a 1998 trip to Cuba, The Dark Heart Of Old Havana is an all-night adventure through the winding alleyways of the city that has long captivated literary imagination. McCartney has loaded The Dark Heart with the fixtures of a Havana adventure: sugar, tobacco, fruit, coffee, warm bodies, alcohol, exuberance, and recklessness, for a scent that never sacrifices its adventurousness just to ...

4160 Tuesdays New York 1955 EDP It's Friday. You've been working hard all week but still have one more day to go. Your hands clutch the steering wheel, knuckles white, as you stare at the never ending sea of traffic on the Belt Parkway; the cacophony of honking horns ringing in your ears. Then suddenly, as if by magic,  Sarah McCartney   takes you by the hand and transports you from the madness to Coney Island. You find yourself strolling the boardwalk. You hear the waves of the Atlantic lapping in the distance. Cotton candy in hand you stroll to the Parachute Jump; you feel the wind in your hair. Time stands still as you breathe in the sweet raspberry floss, the soft and delicate flowers, and the creaminess of the vanilla and somehow everything seems right with the world. Top note is cotton candy; middle notes are raspberry, rose and violet; base notes are vanilla and musk.
