Ellis Brooklyn - Myth EDP I received a sample of Myth with a cosmetics order.   Late last year, I had the opportunity to sample another Ellis Brooklyn fragrance, Sci Fi (you can read my review on this blog), so Myth makes my second Ellis Brooklyn testing.   Unlike Sci Fi, Myth is a floral woody musk.   Released in 2016, Myth is a creation that finds a way to elevate the more traditional fragrance genre. In the opening, I get a light an airy bergamot and a slightly sweet cassis.   There is a sunny and bright feel that is amplified by a beautiful orchid and jasmine.   Jasmine can go wrong in a fragrance if it is overdone.   Here, both the orchid and jasmine are handled with a delicate touch.   There is a lightness to the floral accord.   Roughly three hours into wear, I get a light white musk and very soft cedar.   If they can be described as such, I’d describe the musk and cedar as having the feel of cashmere; there is a soft war...

Parfums de Marly Paris - Meliora Meliora, launched in 2013, is said to be a floral green fragrance, however on me it wears as a fresh fruity floral.  On initial sniff, I get a lusciously juicy fruit blend.  The blend is filled with crushed red berry and black current that drips with fruity sweetness.  Just when I begin to think this fragrance will be simply a fruit-filled one, in comes a floral blend. At that fifteen minute mark when the florals mix with the fruits, the florals lift up the fruits from being a fruity simple syrup type accord.  While I’m aware that several florals comprise the notes, I cannot readily identify one over another in Meliora.  Is this rose?  Is it lily?  I can’t really say.  It feels more like quickly sniffing a bouquet at a flower stand in the city; you know you’ve smelled flowers but the smell was not singular.  Thirty minutes into wear the fruity floral takes on a creaminess.  As the fruits ...

Dame Perfumery - Cassis, Rose & Sandalwood Woman EDT Today’s review is about Dame Perfumery’s Cassis, Rose & Sandalwood (Cassis).  I’ve been testing this fragrance for three days since it contains a note, rose, that I’m not typically a fan of.  Before I begin my review, I would also like to thank the perfumer, Jeffrey Dame, for his quick response to my notes question.  I had reached out to the brand since the featured notes did not seem to align with either the notes I was perceiving or the notes as I’ve seen listed elsewhere. The fragrance itself seems on the surface that it might simply be a juice of cassis, rose, and sandalwood.  The brand site states, “Three elements neatly balanced for simple, clean and pure beauty.  A bright top note, a pretty floral heart and a warm sensual dry down, matched together and blended to perfection.”  So while the trio may be the stars of this fragrance, in actuality it is more complex. Hermes - Eau d’Orange Verte “Eau d’Orange Verte is the scent of the Little Prince in all of us.” (Jean-Claude Ellena)  I just don’t know.  I feel like the Little Prince would probably go with a different fragrance.  I’ll let you know what I think and then you can decide. Eau d’Orange Verte opens with a beautiful, fresh, juicy orange.  The orange feels quite green on me and does not pull overly sweet.  The note is realistic; as if you are smelling an orange while standing in a grove.  Within about 45 minutes, the singular orange note has faded and in its place arrives a general citrus note.  It is quite possibly the combination of the mandarin and Amalfi lemon with the mint and cassis but frankly, none of the notes are individually identifiable on me.  As this fragrance begins to drydown, it becomes softened and a very, very clean patchouli and oakmoss are identifiable.  Eau d’Orange is a pleasant light, fresh citrus fragrance....

DedCool: 01 "Taunt" Being a former beauty blogger, I usually don't have this problem - you see, I have a $50 gift card for Neiman Marcus and was browsing their website to figure out what to buy (usually I know!) While browsing through the Fragrance tab, I noticed the brand DedCool. I had never heard of the brand before. I was drawn in by the neutral bar code bottles and the similarly on point boxes. I was curious. BUT not willing to risk a blind buy, I sought out the brand site and ordered a sample set. Tonight I'm testing the first of five in the sample pack. Taunt opens will a blast of cool, wet bergamot. The bergamot begins fairly strong. After about 15 minutes, the bergamot mellows and a subtle floral enters along with a rich currant. The vanilla and amber also enter about the same time. The vanilla adds the note but not any kind of sweetness. The amber in this is just gorgeous.
